Down Under Pots
Ready for a new look in your backyard this summer? We have just the thing. As their name suggests, these most unusual terracotta pots were designed and invented in Australia.. Down Under Pots turn hanging baskets on their head. They bloom from the bottom.
To use one simply turn the pot upside down and fill with potting soil. Then plant 2 or 3 seedlings - they will be compact. Leave the pot upside down for several weeks while the seedlings get established. Then, turn it right side up and hang it. As the plants grow, they follow the sun and eventually will be a mass of color. Water them from the top. Have them outdoors in the summer, bring them in for the winter.
Planting Suggestions
Annuals tend to grow faster, try: Lobelias, Begonias, Dianthus, Impatiens, or Coleus. Perennials will take longer to grow, but it is well worth it. Roses, Fuchsias, Geraniums and Succulents all do well. Miniature varieties are especially adaptable.
Herbs Try Parsley, chives, Mint, Sage, Coriander, Rosemary, Lavender and Aloe Vera, to name a few. They can also be planted in the top once the bottom plant is established.Down Under Pots are all handmade, so no two are exactly alike. We have them in 2 sizes; glazed and unglazed. With age, they develop a beautiful patina.
